Who said “Let It Snow”???  I don’t believe that anyone will have to dream of a White Christmas this year…….just look outside!!   Send some pictures to your “snowbird” neighbors and friends in Florida.  It looks like a great year for winter recreation!

ICE RINK NOW OPEN

Northville’s Ice Rink is now at it’s new location and open for skaters.  The new location is

adjacent to the Skate Park at the corner of Main and Bridge Streets behind the Village Green.  The Northville School Board supported the new location for the rink when the offer was presented to the School Board and Joint Youth Commission to provide and maintain the rink for Community use at no cost to Taxpayers.  The Ice rink is open to the public from 8am to 9 pm daily.  Open Hockey will be on Tuesday nights at 6 pm.  Lighting is currently being installed and hopefully will be completed by New Years.   An opening celebration will be held Sunday, December 23rd from 2-4 pm; including hot chocolate and a skate swap.  Additional special events are being planned.  Anyone wishing to donate skates is asked to contact Christian Klueg at 863-1028.

ANIMAL ABUSE AWARNESS

Nothing is more intolerable than a person who abuses animals, fails to provide food and shelter, or those who fail to report known abuses.  Two recent severe animal abuse cases in the Town of Northampton and the Town of Benson have caused a great deal of interest and public awareness concerning animal cruelty, abuse and neglect.  In October, eight dogs (mother and 7 puppies) were left abandoned in a Northampton house with no food or water.  Officials were not notified until 2 weeks later, when State Troopers responded to a call, finding 2 puppies dead and another one dying while the trooper held it.  Miraculously, the mother and remaining puppies survived.  The owner will answer to several charges in Northampton Court on December 20th

Anyone who knows or suspects animal abuse, including failure to provide adequate shelter, food and water should report it immediately to the municipality’s animal or dog control officer, the SPCA or the Sheriff’s Department.   For Animal Complaints in the Town of Northampton, first contact Vern Deusler at 863-6313.  If he is unavailable, contact Cecil Blowers at 863-8065 (H) or 863-8919 (W) or Jane Potts at 842-1847
